Non-Surgical Shoulder Pain
Treatment in Utah

A Murray clinic pathway for shoulder stiffness, degenerative joint discomfort, and activity-limiting ache — built around imaging-first evaluation rather than symptom masking alone.

Clinically reviewed by Devon Duplain, PA-C

What the legacy shoulder protocol emphasized

The Joint Regeneration Center of Utah’s prior WordPress shoulder page described a non-surgical regimen meant to give patients a choice to postpone or avoid shoulder surgery when appropriate — and to reduce reliance on long-term prescription painkillers and steroids when those are not the right path.

Unlike teams that only chase symptoms, the clinic’s published approach started by locating the structures that need attention, then matching tools to that finding. This rebuild keeps that sequence. It does not republish unverified outcome percentages or insurance promises from older marketing copy.

Imaging first — then the tool

Legacy education said modern imaging is used throughout the workup to give a detailed view of the shoulder and focus on the joint problems you are experiencing. That remains the gate: rotator cuff irritation, bursitis, early osteoarthritis, and post-activity inflammation are different problems even when the Google query is simply “shoulder pain.”

Hyaluronic acid was described on the old page as one technique used after imaging clarified the joint space — a naturally occurring joint lubricant discussed for degenerative joint disease. Series length varies by case. When HA is not the right tool, the conversation may move to PRP, A2M, exosomes, laser, or stem-cell options — each covered on their own treatment hubs.

What we will not claim from the Wayback page

Older copy marketed “80–90% symptom reduction” and Medicare Part B coverage language. The same archived page later noted regenerative treatments were not covered under Medicare or most commercial insurance and pointed patients to financing. Current clinic practice for regenerative biologics is cash-based (see research notes). We therefore do not republish coverage or percentage claims here.

Howard (Sandy, UT) shared a shoulder pain video in our Watch & Learn gallery — a patient story, not a promise that your shoulder will match his timeline.

Who this page is for (and who should start elsewhere)

Use this hub when the shoulder is the primary complaint and you want the non-surgical map. Use /joint-pain-solutions if several joints hurt. Use /orthobiologics or /prp when you already know you are researching platelet-rich plasma. Use /stem-cell-therapy/shoulder only after imaging suggests a stem-cell discussion is even on the table — and read /stem-cell-disclosure.

Acute dislocation, suspected fracture, fever with a hot joint, or progressive neurologic loss in the arm are not “book a biologic” problems — seek urgent orthopedic or emergency care.

  • Sports, overhead work, and grandparent-lifting limits called out on the old page remain common reasons people arrive
  • Initial session = examination + imaging review to decide if a regenerative plan is appropriate
  • Financing options such as CareCredit may be available; confirm at consult

Frequently asked questions

Do not assume coverage from older website language. Current regenerative biologics at JRCU are cash-based and do not accept Medicare or insurance for those therapies. Ask the front desk what, if anything, is billable for your visit type.

Large retracted tears often still need a surgical opinion. Biologics are discussed for appropriate soft-tissue and arthritic patterns after imaging — not as a universal surgery replacement.

Legacy clinic education argued that locating the exact joint or soft-tissue target matters before injecting. Blind or purely symptomatic steroid cycles are a common reason patients later seek a second opinion here.

When imaging supports it, HA may be used as viscosupplementation for degenerative joint discomfort. See /hyaluronic-acid-treatment for the HA-specific protocol notes. Series length is case-by-case.

Howard’s shoulder video is in the /faq-videos gallery (Vimeo). Individual results vary.
